Restaurant Employee Appointment Letter Template Bangladesh: Fields and Review Checklist
A structured appointment-letter template for restaurant staff with blanks for current legal review instead of invented employment terms.

Last verified: 2026-08-30
A restaurant employee appointment letter template in Bangladesh should identify the parties, job, workplace, employment category, start date, compensation, working arrangement, benefits, rules and ending process in language the employee can understand. It should not rely on a verbal promise that changes after the first shift.
The exact terms depend on current law, coverage, classification and restaurant policy. For that reason this template supplies fields and review questions, not universal numbers. Have a qualified Bangladesh labour adviser check the final document against the latest Act, amendments and Rules listed by DIFE before signature.
Appointment letter field map
| Clause | Information to insert | Review question |
|---|---|---|
| Parties | Legal employer name/address and employee identity/contact | Does the employer name match payroll and records? |
| Appointment | Title, department, reporting line, category, start date | Is classification correct under current law? |
| Workplace | Primary branch and lawful transfer/travel process | Is movement authority clear and reasonable? |
| Pay | Basic/guaranteed components, variable items, pay period and method | Are all promises and conditions separated? |
| Time | Roster process, attendance, rest, overtime authorisation | Does it meet current minimum requirements? |
| Leave/benefits | Applicable leave, meals, accommodation, service charge or other benefits | Which items are guaranteed versus policy-based? |
| Probation/confirmation | Only current lawful terms and review method | Who confirms and how is it recorded? |
| Ending employment | Notice, process, return of assets and final settlement | Has a labour adviser checked each category? |
| Acknowledgement | Language, attachments, signatures, dates and copies | Did the employee receive a signed copy? |
Start with correct identity and classification
Use the restaurant's legal employer name, not only the storefront brand. Record the employee's full name and identifiers through a privacy-controlled process. Name the primary branch and reporting role. Attach the job description rather than putting every operational detail into one long legal clause.
Do not guess the worker category from the job title. A manager label does not automatically decide legal coverage or classification. DIFE's FAQ explains that worker categories and protections arise from the Labour Act; obtain advice for the actual duties and relationship.

Write compensation without ambiguity
Avoid one cash figure described as all inclusive if the employee cannot see what it includes. Do not present uncertain tips or service charge as guaranteed salary. Link every payment to a payslip or payroll record the employee can understand.
| Pay element | State clearly |
|---|---|
| Guaranteed wage | Components, gross/total meaning, pay period and payment date/process |
| Overtime | Authorisation and calculation according to current applicable law |
| Service charge | Whether guaranteed, variable, eligibility and approved distribution policy |
| Tips | Employee/customer practice and whether outside guaranteed wage |
| Meals/accommodation | What is provided, conditions and whether any lawful deduction exists |
| Bonus/benefit | Eligibility, calculation basis and whether statutory or policy-based |
| Deductions | Only lawful, explained categories with payslip visibility |
Define roster, attendance and overtime process
State how the roster is published, how shift changes are approved, where attendance is recorded and whom the employee contacts for an absence or emergency. The letter should refer to the applicable limits, rest and overtime rules approved after legal review rather than inserting a copied number from an old template.
Separate lateness or absence evidence from wage deductions and discipline. Attendance data should show roster, actual check-in/out, approved leave, manual correction and approver. A biometric or app record can support the process but does not replace legal review or fair correction.

Attach policies instead of hiding them
List each attachment with a version and language. Give the employee time to read or have it explained. A policy can set operating detail, but it should not silently contradict the appointment letter or reduce a legal minimum.
- Job description and authority matrix
- Roster, attendance and leave procedure
- Food safety, hygiene and illness reporting
- Cash, discount, void and refund authority
- Customer data and confidentiality rules
- Harassment, conduct and grievance process
- Uniform, device, key and other asset issue/return
- Health, safety, fire and incident escalation
Use careful probation and confirmation wording
If probation applies, have the adviser insert the lawful period, extension conditions if any, review date, standards, notice/process and confirmation authority. Do not leave probation open-ended or change the date after the employee completes the stated period without a documented lawful basis.
Use objective onboarding evidence: attendance, role training, safety checks, supervised task sign-off and documented feedback. Confirmation should be written and copied to the employee and payroll record.
Do not improvise termination clauses
Notice, resignation, retrenchment, discharge, dismissal and other endings can have different requirements and benefits. A short sentence allowing immediate termination for any reason is not a safe substitute for current law and due process. Use category-specific wording reviewed by a labour professional.
State the asset-return, handover, final attendance, approved dues and final-settlement workflow without pre-authorising unlawful deductions. Preserve notices, evidence, employee response and payment acknowledgement.

How we calculated and verified this
This is a drafting checklist and sample structure, not a legal form or legal advice. It deliberately leaves brackets for the employer's lawyer or HR adviser to complete after identifying coverage, worker classification and current requirements.
No fixed probation, notice, working-hour, leave, overtime, deduction, gratuity or termination term is supplied. DIFE's current law, Rules and FAQ pages are the starting sources; the signed document must not provide less favourable terms than applicable law.
A good appointment letter prevents memory from becoming employment policy. It identifies the real employer, job, pay, roster process, protections, authority and documents both sides received.
Use this field map to prepare a draft, then have a qualified Bangladesh labour adviser complete the bracketed terms under current law. Do not copy fixed numbers or termination language from an old internet template.
