Restaurant POS on Windows 7: Check Compatibility Before Buying
The current Rosuii desktop build does not support Windows 7. Here is how to evaluate an older counter PC without confusing a print helper with a full app.

An old counter PC can look like a cheap starting point. It becomes an expensive distraction if the software you need does not run on it.
The current Rosuii Windows desktop build targets Windows 10/11, 64-bit. It does not support Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 32-bit Windows. If a seller promises Windows 7 compatibility, ask which exact application and build they mean before paying.
An installer name is not a compatibility test
A file named Windows POS does not tell you its minimum operating system. Ask for the version, architecture, complete release package and documented requirements. A screenshot from another computer is not a demonstration on yours.
Rosuii’s repository specifies Windows 10/11 x64, and the Flutter platform documentation excludes Windows 8 and earlier. This article does not certify a Windows 7 build or suggest that a compatibility-mode checkbox changes those requirements.

Separate three different products
These differences matter during a sales demonstration. If a helper prints on an old machine, ask to see login, menu loading, a sale, payment recording and reconnection in the actual application. Do not accept one component as proof of the whole workflow.

Bring a checklist to the hardware seller
Mark anything not demonstrated as not tested. Do not turn the seller’s confidence into your restaurant’s acceptance criteria. Get a clear return or support arrangement from the seller before committing to hardware.
- Record the exact Windows edition, version and 32/64-bit architecture.
- Confirm that the proposed app release supports that system.
- Test your printer model with its intended driver.
- Complete a controlled order and payment-recording flow.
- Disconnect, try the supported offline flow and reconnect.
- Check the server record and ask who supports failures.
What should an existing Windows 7 owner do?
Treat the current Rosuii desktop installer as incompatible with that machine. Ask support to review your actual hardware and a supported operating-system path before changing the counter.
If you evaluate browser access, test that separate configuration fully. A login page loading is not a promise of secure, reliable or complete service on an old operating system. Do not assume the browser bypasses every platform limitation.
Keep upgrade decisions separate from unsynchronised sales
Before reinstalling software or replacing a working till, identify any local pending work and reconcile it. An offline queue may contain information that is not yet on the server.
Record the printer settings and required workflows before the change. After installing on a supported PC, repeat the same sale, print and recovery checks. A new operating system alone does not make the counter ready for service.
What would justify a future Windows 7 claim?
A distinct release would need explicit requirements, its complete downloadable artifact and testing on the actual operating system with required dependencies and workflows. Until that exists and is reviewed, Rosuii should not advertise Windows 7 desktop support.
This boundary helps buyers choose correctly. Honest requirements are more useful than a broad compatibility claim that fails after the till is installed.

Product details were checked against Rosuii’s Flutter client, Windows build configuration and offline queue code on 7 September 2026. These are source-code checks, not independent Windows hardware or printer certifications. No measured time savings, customer counts or universal hardware compatibility are claimed.
