Waiter Salary in Bangladesh 2026: Restaurant Pay Guide

Last verified: 2026-08-28

Public waiter vacancies in Bangladesh during 2026 show advertised base salaries from about ৳8,000 to ৳15,000 per month in the examples checked, while experienced, branded or higher-service restaurants can offer outside that small sample. This is not an official national salary scale.

A fair comparison needs total guaranteed pay, duty hours, weekly rest, overtime treatment, service-charge policy, tips, duty meals, transport, festival benefits and review date. A higher headline salary can still be weaker if the shift and deductions are unclear.

Why offers differ

Location, restaurant format, late-night duty, language ability, POS and order accuracy, fine-dining service, sales responsibility and prior experience affect the offer. Accommodation, meals and transport can change take-home value.

A vacancy sample shows asking prices, not a verified national average. Benchmark nearby restaurants and document the job scope before setting pay.

Write a complete waiter offer

  • Monthly basic or gross pay
  • Probation and confirmation terms
  • Normal shift and break
  • Weekly rest
  • Overtime authorization and payment method
  • Service-charge distribution rule
  • Tip policy
  • Meals, uniform and transport
  • Salary date and review date

Compare total compensation, not one number

Put guaranteed monthly cash in the first row of the comparison. Then list each non-cash or variable item separately: duty meals, accommodation, transport, overtime, festival bonus, service-charge distribution and tips. The CMH advertisement illustrates why this matters: its ৳8,000–৳12,000 cash range appears alongside accommodation, food and several benefits. Those benefits have value, but they do not turn a variable or conditional item into guaranteed salary.

For a job seeker, calculate the realistic monthly value only after reading the conditions. For an owner, state who qualifies, when each item is paid and what evidence is used. Never advertise a best-case total as if it were the fixed base. A written breakdown also makes two offers comparable when one restaurant provides meals or housing and another pays more cash.

Build a role ladder before recruiting

A junior waiter may focus on table setup, menu knowledge, accurate order entry and cleanliness. A senior waiter may own a section, resolve routine complaints, train new staff and close bills. A captain or floor lead may allocate tables, manage handovers and coordinate with kitchen and cashier. Write these levels before discussing pay so a promotion has a visible change in responsibility.

Attach a small evidence checklist to each level: order accuracy, attendance, guest issues resolved through the proper escalation, menu assessment, closing checklist and cash or device accountability. Review the evidence on a dated cycle. Sales pressure alone is a poor score because traffic, pricing and promotions may be outside the waiter's control.

Budget the real employer cost

The employer's monthly cost is not only the advertised base. Add guaranteed allowances, employer-funded meals or housing, approved overtime, festival benefits, uniforms, training and any lawful contributions that apply. Keep service-charge money separate if it is collected and distributed under a written policy. This prevents a restaurant from accepting a salary budget that cannot support its actual roster.

Model the number per staffed shift as well as per employee. If absence regularly creates overtime, the cheaper-looking headcount plan may cost more and deliver worse service. Compare scheduled labour with covers, sales and opening hours, then keep a reserve for leave, replacement and training rather than assuming every employee works every service.

First-month payroll controls

  • Signed offer and confirmed joining date
  • Employee identity and payment details checked
  • Published roster preserved
  • Actual check-in, break and check-out reviewed
  • Overtime approved with a reason
  • Service-charge and tip policy applied consistently
  • Advance and deduction supported by evidence
  • Payslip shared with a correction deadline

Questions a candidate should ask before accepting

Ask whether the advertised number is basic, gross guaranteed cash or a best-case package. Request the normal shift, break, weekly rest, closing duty, overtime process, salary date, probation length and review criteria in writing. Clarify who receives tips or service charge, whether meals and accommodation are guaranteed, and whether any uniform, damage or cash-shortage deduction can occur.

Also ask where the work will happen and whether branch transfer, late transport or split shift is expected. A legitimate employer should be able to describe the reporting manager, job scope and correction process for attendance or pay. Never pay an individual to obtain a job; preserve the vacancy and signed offer so later changes can be discussed from evidence.

Pay for measurable responsibility

Define the role beyond carrying plates: greeting, table assignment, accurate order entry, modifier confirmation, upselling without pressure, complaint escalation, bill handover, cleanliness and shift closing.

Use a scorecard for order accuracy, attendance, guest feedback, menu knowledge and cash or device responsibility. Do not make pay depend on vague manager preference.

Hours and legal check

DIFE's current laws index includes a Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026 as well as earlier versions. Employers should check which provisions and worker classification apply before fixing hours, rest, overtime and deductions.

Keep actual check-in, break and check-out records. A roster is only a plan; payroll should use approved attendance and documented adjustments.

Rosuii payroll workflow

Rosuii attendance and payroll features can help record shifts, check-ins, salary components, advances and payroll summaries. The restaurant remains responsible for configuring lawful rules and approving accurate attendance.

Give the worker a clear pay statement showing base, additions and deductions. Transparency reduces disputes and makes review discussions evidence-based.

How we calculated and verified this

We treated public vacancies as dated asking-price observations, not as a national average. The lowest and highest figures in the table come only from the three linked 2026 listings; we did not interpolate missing locations, tips, service charge or overtime.

We then separated guaranteed cash pay from benefits and variable items because the CMH listing, for example, also mentions accommodation, meals, overtime allowance and other benefits. Legal-process guidance is linked to DIFE's current law index. Employers and workers should verify the applicable 2026 law, contract and classification rather than using this article as legal advice.

Use the current vacancy range only as a starting market signal. The right waiter package is a written exchange between defined responsibility, lawful hours and transparent total compensation.
